What Camping Equipment Suits You

In a sense, camping has already been part of people’s lives since the beginning of time because a lot of early people have been living in tents for hundreds of years now.  As civilization evolved, so as the way of constructing homes and living in concrete and stone houses became the trend.  With inhabitants living in fixed and budding locations, the urge to breath fresh air of the woodlands has become part of millions of people’s lives.

Each year, the number of individuals going camping increases and a few of the reasons why is to get a vacation and not to spend too much money.  Thanks to modern camping equipments, sheltering and cooking food have become more convenient.  Compared to cooking in open flames in the ground, compact LPG-powered stoves burn cleaner and cook faster while tents have gone from regular wooden rods and canvass to durable and bendable carbon fibre poles and water proof synthetic fabrics.

Preparing for camping has become easier and modern tents have contributed to this.  Camping equipments like these are essential whether it’s for camping, backpacking or hiking.

Here are a few tent types to choose from:

Pyramid Tents

The pyramid tent is the most straightforward where four stakes, two wooden poles and one giant canvas are the main tools.  Its simplicity is favored by the hardy outdoorsmen and amateur campers will have quite an easy time in setting it up.  Tents like these, however, are prone to invasion by insects and parasites.  Many manufacturers of camping gears have made pyramid tents that include zippered entryways which also have synthetic fabric canvass and carbon fiber poles and rods.

Dome Tents

Dome tents have become a favorite and common form of tent for majority of campers.  Their dome shape not only slide rain water more effectively but it’s also designed to provide easier entrance and more headroom for its occupants compared to triangular tents.  Dome tents typically come with two poles.  Other dome tents are modified to provide more durability and resilience against strong winds and heavy rains.  The addition of rods and poles to its endoskeleton allows it to be more sturdier.

Tunnel Tents

Tunnel tents are tube-shaped tents where the entrance is usually wider and taller and gradually slopes down at the back.  Two rods come with tunnel tents as well but one is much longer than the other one and there are also varieties of single poles.  The lighter weight of tunnel tents also give them certain advantages over other types of tents.  Due to its compact design, tunnel tents are the ideal type of tents for a 1 man tent

If you are new to tents, keeping it dry is essential to prevent moisture damage such as mold and mildew which not only make your tents discolored, it will also make them stinky and a potential health hazard.  It is also advisable to dry wet tents before storing them.  You can dry your tent by hanging it in a long clothesline and allow it to dry by air.  You can also dry it by sun but it’s important to know that ultraviolet rays from the sun can potentially damage the tent fabric.  It is recommended not to expose it for prolonged periods under the sun otherwise wear and tear from heat would gradually deteriorate the fabric.
